ARE THEY REALLY NOTHING?

GOAL SETTING A college loving kid proving that he is not Nothing /Photo Courtesy /Tara Winstead Nothing? There comes a time in life when a kid has to grow up. And start making decisions. Life changing decisions for that matter. Decisions such as, going to college. And preparing for life’s biggest responsibilities. During this critical time. Parents are usually on the edge of their seats. They are on the edge because they are afraid of hearing some things. Kids have graduated high school and some have received invitations to some of the best colleges in the country. Parents in most occasions, want to keep the college conversation going. They want to talk about their kids’ college choices with their friends and neighbors. College conversation is a good conversation. Because most parents think that going to college is a window of opportunities. And to some extent it is, especially for those students who want to go to college. Kids that have already visualized the kind of professio...

Joy

Where does your joy come from? The fire that powers up your life. Where does it come from? Where does your satisfaction come from? What makes you happy? Do you know it? Can you mention it? Yes, I can mention it. My joy comes from within. It comes from the way I live my life. The things that I love doing. I find a lot of joy in them. The decisions I have made. The things that I have dismissed from my life. I find satisfaction in who I am and what I have become. I love myself. And I celebrate my decisions. I am proud of myself. I have traveled so far. Met a lot of things on the way. But still made it home without scars. I have found freedom in the choices that I have made a long the years. Choices that make me. Decisions that define me. Now I know who I am. I am not the labels that people who have distorted version of me think I am.

I am a whole me. A free and joyful me. I have the correct information about me. I am responsible. A skilled leader. And a wonderful critical thinker. I am objective. I am honest. That is where my joy comes from. It is from within. Because I have spent time with myself and learned about what serves me and what does not. I have learned to sweep around and across my environment. I have also learned the importance of keeping a clean heart. I told my mind too to calm down. I advised my mind and heart to let go of vanity. I told them to get transformed. And just be ourselves. I became myself. Free and unburdened. Simplified with clear eyes. I am unbothered most of the time. Because I see a lot that does not serve me. A lot that is not me. That is why I don’t run after what everyone is running after. I found myself. And no one can or will take me away from me. No one will steal my joy.

No one will steal my freedom. Because everything that is me belongs to me. I will keep my order. I will also keep my sophistication.  No one will bring unruliness around me. Because I am always in charge. And that is how I found my joy. A found my joy by being in charge. I did not wait to be given. I went out by myself and worked for it. I went out and sought my joy. I pursued it. And will looking for it. I heard a lot of things. But I kept going until I found it. I found my freedom. And I live as a free person. There are no cells in my mind. I am free. I chose a free lifestyle. And this lifestyle, gives me a lot of joy. I am satisfied by the choices I have made. I am satisfied by the way I live my life. Because everything I live I chose it. I am not a fragment of other people. I am myself. And I refuse to be a fragment of other people.

Other people do not know who I am. And I also refuse to be defined by people who don’t know me. I refuse to fit in a perfect narrative. I refuse to fit in misguided and dishonest societal stereotypes. I know who I am. And I am not that which I am not. Half-baked people should not define me. People who do not know who they are should not define me. Such people have no business in my life. And they also have no business in your life. Take charge of your own life. Find freedom. Be free. Free yourself from the little cells. Find out who you are. Immerse yourself in this activity. Find you. You will only find joy by being you. Living you. Not the portions of your environment. Don’t become fragments of your environment. Become you. Leave other people alone. Focus on you. Live a life that calls your name. Because everything you do sums up you.

Can you do that? It will be worth it. You will love yourself when you find you. It will be one of the best things that you have ever done. It will be joy. Joy from within. You will find satisfaction in your own life. You will find happiness. And suddenly, a lot of things will begin to align. You cannot live in purpose if you don’t know yourself. Find yourself first. Then you can live in purpose. But it will not be an easy journey. You will have to give up your comfort zone. You will need to accept responsibility. You will have to commit to solve problems. You will have to learn how to organize and keep your environment clean. You will learn how to sweep around your environment. You will have to do this by yourself. You will also decide by yourself that you need to find you. Joy is desired. Freedom is also desired. Do you desire them?

Do you want to be happy? Do you want to live less burdened? If yes, then get to work. It will be a fulfilling journey. You will discover a lot that you don’t need. And while in the process of sorting out things. You gradually begin to find you. I have no idea how you, looks like. However, once you put your mind on it. You will find you. Joy will begin to manifest itself. You see happiness in things that previously did not smell joy. Because when you are free. It is about you not them. It will not be about the world any more. It will be about you getting to specifics. Mention specific things that you enjoy doing. Things that you only do. Not with friends. Things that you can enjoy by yourself. Those specifics are very important. That is what this journey is all about. Traveling alone. And coming back alone unharmed. The journey is not exciting. But it is worth it.

The joy and freedom I feel is precious. It is in things that I cannot put a price on. The joy that I find in reading for example, is liberating. It is a fresh air. A cooling fresh air. The kind of cool air you need when you are overheating from dehydration. It is satisfying. It comes at the appointed time. When you really need it. That is the kind of joy I feel when I do things that I love and enjoy doing. It is freedom. It sets me free. And I become myself. And when I am myself, I do a lot of things. A lot of meaningful things. Things that break the glass ceiling. When I am myself. I don’t have limitations. I can become anything. I can travel anywhere. Because I am free. Are you free? Can you become anything? Are you limitless? Find out today. And if you think you deserve joy. Find it. You are the only one who can gift joy to yourself.
