4 WAYS NOT TO "MURDER" YOUR BOSS

Don’t 'Murder' Your Boss
Workplace
jealousy is not news anymore. A lot of people feel jealous of their
colleagues at work. In fact, research reveals that over 70 percent of men and
women report feeling jealous of their colleagues or bosses. Jealousy is a
common habit at the workplace. In fact, the trait has transcended the work
environment to include other areas of life such as, residential places. People are
jealous everywhere. Envy is a strong human condition. A condition that can
drive some people to commit crime. People in society have done different
heinous acts in the name of jealousy. This trait has been in society since the beginning.
Being obsessed with other people's business. As a result, bosses, colleagues,
neighbors, friends, and strangers have been harmed. In real-time, I have fresh
memory of a boss who is a victim of jealousness. An employee quite literally murdered his boss.
Whereas this is an unfortunate subject to address. It is a necessary topic. I think you are familiar with feeling of jealous and how it makes people act. It is sad to get to that position of harming others. It is not a good attribute. Let your boss be. Your boss is not succeeding or hitting milestones for no reason. He/she has worked for it. You were not there when your boss was going through moments that pushed him or her to succeed. You don’t know the whole story. And you are not entitled to anything. So, stop feeling jealous and developing emotions that make you a bad person. If you want to be at the top like your boss, work for it. Go out there and make difficult decisions. Learn how to think. Learn how to make progress. Don’t embrace lifestyles that make you lag behind. Don’t wake up when everyone is gone. And you are the only one down there. Use these tips to think better and behave better.
Start your Own Business
Your
boss started out with a vision. He/she dreamt big. The imagination was
challenged. And the boss thought of creating a certain product or world. The boss
followed through his imagination and dream with a big action. Your boss put
the vision to action. Hard work was involved. Sleepless nights were involved. A
lot of hard thinking took place. And slowly by slowly, your boss created the
world that he/she imagined. The market can now access a valuable product because
of your boss’s hard work. The market has accepted the product and business is good.
There is plenty of money. And numerous growth opportunities. Your boss has
not slept on the first success. He/she is still working hard. Your boss is
making big time decisions and partnering with global brands. And there you are,
not happy.
You are not happy that your boss is not involving you in these big decisions. You are not happy that other employees in the organization are working closely with your boss. You are not happy that your boss has lost memory of how you started. The work that you put in to get the business to where it is today. You think that you deserve a front row in the mind of your boss. Yet, your boss pays you enough. In fact, a subsidiary of the company has been created just for you to run. The division is in your area of specialty. You should have fun running this operation. Your boss thought he/she could trust you with the division. Your boss wants to expand. And you don’t have to be the main ingredient in the expansion. And you are not happy. Now you are planning how to eliminate your boss. You are planning murder because you have been sidelined.
You wanted to come first everywhere in your boss’s decisions. But things have changed. There are other people who are suitable in the new direction that your boss is taking. Your boss is in his right mind. Your boss is working with the right people in the expansion project. You have work to do. However, instead of focusing on the work in front of you. You have chosen to deflect. Your emotions are running out of control. You have forgotten your professionalism. Now a strong emotion is controlling you. The emotion has blinded you. You have forgotten that you are an employee. The company has its owner. And the owner does not need permission to make monumental decisions. That is the essence of being the boss. Being at the top and making difficult decisions. closing deals does not just happen. It involves a lot of work.
If you feel that your boss is disrespecting you. And failing to honor all the inputs you have contributed to the success of the business. Quit the company. Start your own business. And get to the top. Be the boss at your own company. And start making strategic decisions that will take you around the world. Start making decisions that will put you in front of people. People who want to buy your goods or services. But murdering your boss is way too petty. by acting on your jealousy, you behave like a child throwing tantrums at the workplace. You are misbehaving when you develop feelings of jealousness towards other people. You are getting out of line when you plot crime. At this point, you are not only unethical but also a threat to security. You are a threat because you have allowed yourself to be used as an object of harm.
So, don’t 'murder' your boss. Instead, start your business. Have some vision too. Create something that the world will fall in love with. Dream big. Have ambitions. Work on your ambitions. Challenge your imagination to give you something. Something that will make you proud. Instead of plotting to commit evil against your boss. Become a competitor. Create a rival product to your boss. Market it so well that it rises to the top. That it begins to send shock waves to your boss. That is the only way. You will learn whether you were built for the top seat or not. That you know how to think. That you can get yourself from the bottom to the top. By challenging your boss for not seeing you with a rival successful product. You will be sending a strong message. A message that your boss overlooked you. That you got potential. You were underestimated. A business will say a lot about you. But killing your boss, speaks a lot about your weaknesses. Stop being jealous. And open conversations.
Ask for More Responsibility
If you feel that your boss is forgetting about you, ask for more responsibility. Seek
audience with your boss and tell him or her that you got potential. Tell your
boss that you can handle some of her difficult responsibilities. Ask your boss
to trust you with a very important responsibility. A responsibility that sounds
like a make or break. Prove yourself on this extra responsibility. Showcase your
decision making skills. Demonstrate your strategic side. Propose life changing
collaborations. Bring on board collaborators that will do exactly what your
boss was looking for in the expansion project. Use available communication
channels to speak your mind with your boss. If your boss is deliberately
putting you aside, bring up that issue also in an open adult conversation. Don’t
go behind the scenes and start wedging war.
Your boss knows everyone in the organization. And if you were trusted with your own division but you are still envious. It means you got your own problems. You need to deal with your emotions. You need to control yourself. Stop being emotionally involved with workplace activities. Stop suppressing emotions. If you don’t like something, say it as soon as possible. Say as soon as, you start noticing that you are being marginalized. Stop developing emotions. Your boss does not owe you anything. You were hired just like everyone else was hired. You do not have special privileges. And stop behaving like you have special privileges. You are an employee not a co-founder. It does not matter how long you have been in the company. Be a professional. Talk thinks out. Ask for more work. Tell your boss you need a new challenge. A challenge away from your area of specialty.
Level Up
Yes,
level up. If you are falling behind and you feel that you still want to
compete, level up. Get trainings that will keep you relevant. Do something that
will make you more valuable than you already are. If you would like
to keep up with the colleagues who are working closely with your boss. On
projects that you feel you should have been involved. Then get some skills. Get new
skills that will prove your ambitiousness. Commit to becoming better. Do better
at the workplace. Start doing assignments that make you noticeable. Stop being sloppy.
End awkward behavior. Look around you. What are you getting right and what are
you getting wrong? Start thinking. Find programs that will keep you up to date.
Don’t remain the same person and still complain of being left behind.
You have a lot of opportunities to show your boss that you are capable. You have a lot of choices that can give you exactly what you want. If you want to remain in the frontline all the time. Fight for the frontline. Enroll in programs that will leave you updated. Familiarize yourself with changes in the market. Learn about new technologies in your field. Think of how you can use your current knowledge to create innovative solutions. Get yourself busy. Do stuff that will get you noticed. Lead your division well. Get your division to the top. Lead your division into a valuable resource in the organization. Let your boss see what you are doing in action. Make your division a top earner for the company. Earn the attention you need from your boss. Your boss will notice you. He will invite you for lunch. The boss will find a new challenge for you. Level up. Don’t plot murder.
Walk Away
If,
you are not being valued here. Find somewhere you can be valued. Your skills
are still relevant. You are still relevant. Human beings forget. Human being
move on to the next thing. They forget about the past. If that is the case, then walk
away. Walk away in peace. Don’t leave with a heavy heart. Find the next thing
that will utilize your current strengths and skills. Start something totally
new on your own. The marketplace is a huge place. There are enough challenges
in the marketplace. Problems worth solving. Find a problem you can solve with
your skills. Walk away with dignity. Go do the next big thing. Shock us with a
new invention. Create the next valuable stock. Bring relief to people suffering
somewhere. Do something other than being jealous.
Stop imagining things. Stop creating nonexistent envy. Stop fighting people who are not fighting you. Don’t start unnecessary wars. No one is interested in fighting with you. Reduce your level of idleness. Get to work when other people get to work. Pay attention to instructions. Stop challenging your boss. Stop undermining your boss in front of other people. Your boss is your boss. Your boss is where he/she is because the position was earned. You haven’t earned yours. The mere fact that you are envious means you are not ready. Next level is too complex for you. You got work to do. You fix your emotions first. You grow up first. Walk away and find people that value you. Don’t plan to poison everyone before you walk away. Walk away in peace. Your skills have run their course with your current boss. Find the next boss that will value you. Take your skills elsewhere. But don’t murder your boss.
