When simple instruction is not simple anymore. It means we have a problem. Things will not get completed as expected. Someone will defy authority. Someone will bring his/her bad attitude. There will be problems. Time will be wasted. People giving instructions will be frustrated. And the people whom instruction was intended will lose credibility. They will project themselves as defiant beings. Beings that have a hard time implementing simple things. The goal that the person instructing had in mind will not be met. There will be no help. Because the person who was supposed to receive help is stubborn. The person thinks he/she knows better. Better than the instructor. Yet, he sought help from the instructor. If, you have a problem following simple instructions, learn from these four tips to change your attitude towards instructions and people.

Listen

When simple instruction isn’t simple anymore, it means that someone is not listening. Someone is not respecting. And someone is not taking things seriously. Someone is using his/her way of doing things mentality. When instruction is calling for urgency and seriousness. Someone is living in his own world. You haven’t just woken up to reality. You are still stuck somewhere in your issues or mind. And so you think that, everyone wants to go with your pace. That everyone lacks a sense of urgency. And that everyone has all the time in the world. You are indeed, absurd. You got to wake up from this ignorance. You got to start listening. You got to start caring. You need to start respecting. You need to listen. Listen to what you are being told. Listen carefully for that matter. Listen carefully to implement instructions correctly.

The instructor was not looking for a conversation when he/she issued the instructions. He/she was not looking for defiance. The instructor listened to your problem. And the instructions given are supposed to help you make progress. The instructions are for your own good. Listen when someone is talking. Follow instructions when you have been given some. Instructions are given based on the demands at hand. There are things that need solutions. Those things are important. The things that need to be solved are for your benefit. You need to take things seriously. Your health is at risk. You are on the verge of losing your life. And you cannot be pushing away people who want to help you. You cannot be making people feel like they cannot trust you. Stop losing credibility when you need help.

You need to start listening. Listen for listening sake. Listen to make progress. Listen to solve a problem. Take things seriously. There are other people that need help. And you are standing in their way by being difficult. You are wasting time. You are not taking yourself seriously. If, you sought help somewhere, and you sabotage yourself by not following instructions. You risk being ignored in the future. No one will want to work with you in the future. You are proving to be a difficult person. A person that does not see reality as it is. If, your health is at risk and the doctor is telling you to perform certain actions, and you don’t follow through. You surely have a problem. What do you think will happen to you? The instructions are for your own good. The doctor told you your health is at risk. You need to lose weight. You need to exercise. You need take your health seriously. Start listening. Listen to save your life.

Challenging Authority

The instructions were straight forward. The doctor told you to lose weight. The doctor gave you a routine to follow. The doctor told you to exercise. These instructions are simple and clear. You don’t need the definition of lose weight. Lose weight is losing weight. Start doing the activities that were recommended to help you lose weight. Stop challenging authority. You cannot come up with your own instructions. You cannot change routes along the way. You are supposed to stick with what you were given. Do the activities you were instructed to do. Those are the things that will make you better. The instructions you are ignoring is the one that is supposed to save your life. You will only make progress by following simple instructions. Simple instruction is everywhere. Your part is to implement it.

To do exactly what simple instruction tells you to do. When you fail to follow simple instructions, you collide with other people. You create frictions. You create tension. This is what simple instructions was trying to help you avoid. Getting in the way of people. Causing confusion. Stalling processes. Inconveniencing other people. Slowing down operations. Simple instructions were meant to solve all these things. Simple instructions are meant for smooth operations. Simple instructions are meant to get things moving. You have no business challenging authorities that put out these instructions. Authorities saw the bigger picture. Someone knew better. Someone learned early. And you cannot interfere with these structures. Stop challenging authorities. Follow simple instructions. Do as you are told. Stop interpreting instructions. They are already clear.  It is the doctor talking. And you are not the first case.

Poor Decision-Making

You are making a mistake by failing to follow simple instructions. You are making a mistake by moving the goal post on the way. You will not get to the desired destination. You will not achieve your goal. You will put a lot of things at risk. You will disappoint people who want to help you. People will stop trusting you. You are a poor decision-maker. You will have a long way to achieving any real progress. You are a bad actor. You don’t know what you want. And you are wasting other people’s time by asking for something you don’t want to implement. You have not processed your problems well. You are not seeing your issue as an emergency. You think that you have all the time in the world. You are changing so many things on the way. You are distorting simple instructions.

You are losing the way. You are getting lost in a broad daylight. You are losing support. Start making good decisions. Start thinking properly. Start acting like a normal person. Start engaging your common sense. You don’t know better than your doctor. You are not the doctor. And if, the doctor said you lose weight, you commit to losing weight. Don’t make decisions on the way that jeopardize everything. You surely have a big problem. you have a problem of undisciplined eating. Listen to the doctor. Follow simple instructions. Start exercising. Start eating right. Reduce your meal portions. Meet the doctor’s target. The doctor wanted to know you better using simple instructions. But now, you are failing. You risk being dropped. Stop being a poor decision-maker. Follow simple instructions. Stick with the same instructions.

Commit to Change

When simple instruction is no longer simple. It means that you are not committed to change. You are not ready to change. You are not ready to make progress. You want to play around. You want repetition. You want to waste time. You have not processed the meaning of these instructions. You are still living in a bubble. You are not seeing the problem. You are not seeing the risks. You are not serious. You are just talking. You are only acting because someone else mentioned the problem. But you have not decided to solve the problem. You still want the comfort zone. The pain is not painful enough. You still want to postpone progress. You are still stuck with the things that created the problem. You can’t let go. Wake up. Follow simple instructions. Start doing the things that make you better. Work hard for your better. Lose the weight. Show commitment. Show some discipline.

You don’t have time. Create some urgency around your issues. Commit to solve these issues. Solve problems. Commit to change. Get committed to your progress. Stop some elements of laziness. The instructions were clear. Your instructor was clear. You were told to do certain things that will help you achieve the change. Do those thing. Follow simple instructions. Stop giving excuses. Stop creating non-existent obstacles. The instructor wanted you to demonstrate your seriousness. The instructor wanted to understand you. The help you were looking for, was not going to come from one direction. You are supposed to be directly involved. You are supposed to be working hard compared to everyone else. You are the one in trouble. Other people are supporting you. However, if change has to happen. It will depend on your character. Your commitment. Your willingness. Your hard work. Get committed to your change. Start listening. Start following simple instructions.
