WHY SEAT PRETTY IN DIRTY ENVIRONMENT?
BUILDING BETTER HABITS

Responsibility Is Needed
Back then,
when I was a kindergarten student. We were told that being unhygienic was bad. That
we were supposed to wear clean clothes and keep our learning environment clean.
The message was cemented in the minds of kids. We grew up knowing that being
unhygienic is bad. So, in our small ways as kids, we tried to keep ourselves
clean. Most kids carried the message of hygiene into their adulthood. I carried
it into adulthood. I keep my environment and myself clean. And if hygiene is
discussed as early as, kindergarten. By now, most adults should not be struggling
with keeping their environments and themselves clean. Being hygienic should
come naturally. A responsible person should observe hygienic measures. The mere
fact that it is taught in school means that anyone who has ever been in
school, knows about the importance of hygiene.
And I think most people have been in school. We only have isolated cases where people have not been in school. And we empathize with people who did not access an opportunity to get an education. Knowledge is human rights. Children should be able to get an education no matter their circumstances. No one should stand in the way of education. It is the best gift any parent or guardian can give a child. But let us focus on hygiene. Let us look at adults. Adults who should know better. People who should know that cooking and serving food in a dirty environment is dangerous. In this type of circumstances, it is the health of the people. The person cooking, and one who is doing so with the intention of making money, should think better. The person should think about the health of other people. And pay attention to the environment.
People should not just think about the money. People who want to make money out of cooking or selling food should think bigger. They are assuming a responsibility beyond food. They are responsible for people who come to their stations to buy whatever they are selling. As a result, they cannot just seat pretty in dirty environments. They cannot just cook in unhygienic environment. And think that, that is all. There are a lot of layers. One of those layers being how the food is preserved before being served to the customers. The mere fact that food being prepared and served is on demand, does not mean that people ignore important common sense practices. Hygiene is hygiene. A reasonable person needs to think about that. It is the duty of care that this individual has towards the people that buy from him or her. For example, the chef owes duty of care to his/her customers.
Someone cannot just open up a popup business in front of a dustbin. Someone should not be cooking near a dustbin. Even if that dustbin is a few meters from the popup business. People need to think better. The idea of selling food using a pop-up shop should be given significant consideration. Someone needs to think about his/her role as a businessman/woman. What responsibility do they have towards other people? A businessman/woman should think about the customer beyond serving him/her food. A reasonable business person should also think about the health of the customer. Serving food in unhygienic environment comes with risks. The risks are costly and in this case, these risks have been transferred to the customer. Yet, the person who opened a popup business can control these risks. If only this businessman/woman thought about hygiene. This person could have done something he/she can manage. A serious businessman/woman can manage to sweep around. And preserve the cooked food in a proper way.
The chef should stop serving food in a dirty environment. The pile of dirty a few meters from the popup shop should be moved. At least, clean the area where food is being prepared and served. If, this food business is really important to the business man/woman. Then hygiene should come first. The business person should think about the location. And if, there is no other better location than the dirty location. The next important step should to keep the area clean. The individual with business interest should take this next step to protect not only his/her business interests but also the interests of the customer. If, the intention is to prepare and sell a popular cuisine on demand. The business person should ensure that people do not get sick eating it. To that end, the businessman/woman should also think about the preparation methods. Preservation methods. And serving methods.
On the minimum, this is how a reasonable person should think. It is not just about the money. It is also about the health of other people. No one should open up a business that put the lives of other people at risk. The goods and services that someone offers, should not make other people sick. Someone needs to think beyond money and consider all factors that comes with running a food business. And one of those important factors is health. People cannot just be selling food in open air and seat pretty. Moreover, people cannot just operate business with ignorance. Someone should think about the whole business process. It does not matter whether their kind of business is regulated or not. The mere thought of setting up a business with a product for the market is enough. Someone needs to take the concept of responsibility very seriously.
The duty of care should be at the center of that popup business. A responsible person should clean up the environment before setting up the popup shop. He/she should find out where the pile of dirt in front of the popup shop can be redirected. The chef cannot just seat pretty in a dirty environment. He or she cannot just focus on the business and forget about the environment. The chef cannot just concentrate on preparing and selling the cuisine. He or she should think about the free radicals. The microbes that come from operating a business in unhygienic environment. The person should think about the entire place. The business owner should think about the people. And do what is right. Clean up the area. If, the concept of hygiene is introduced in the lives of people in early childhood education. Then for sure, most people know how to sweep. Most people know how to pick up dirt and take it in the right places.
Picking and cleaning up one’s surroundings should come naturally. People should clean after themselves. People should be a little bit responsible. They should not litter. They should take their dirty items where it is supposed to be taken. And, if, someone sees a place fit enough for a business. He/she should assume responsibility. Sweep around and across. Move the pile of dirty elsewhere. A business should not operate until the environment is clean. Someone should take this measure because other people are involved. And some of these other people, are children. People need to think carefully before initiating small popup businesses along the road. Street cuisine is good. But not at the expense of other people’s lives. If, someone thinks of joining the street cuisine business, he/she should also think about how to protect people.
Simple measures should be taken to protect the people. Simple measures such as, keeping the environment clean. Preparing and selling food in a clean environment. People should not seat pretty in dirty environments and think that they are making impacts. All is not good. Someone will get sick. If, your preservation methods are bad, your food will be contaminated. And you will be selling poisoned food to the people. In the process, some people will get sick. And others might even lose their lives. You need to think better. You need to take responsibility if, you operate street cuisine business. Don’t just get excited at the idea of making money.
Be diligent at your work. Learn some responsibility and clean your environment. Don’t sell food in a dirty environment. You can contribute to the overall, good of your society by picking up dirt and taking it in the right place. Don’t seat pretty in dirty environment. Apply your common sense a little bit. You already know the consequences of being unhygienic. Protect the health of the people who bring money to you. Protect your customer. Care for your customer. Don’t compromise the health of your customer. Look beyond the money. There are other layers to your business. Think about those layers. Do not seat pretty in unhygienic environment. Clean your environment. Be responsible. Solve your hygiene problems. Clean around you.
